New York appoints special 'Czar' to exterminate rats
"Rat Czar" Kathy Corradi will initially focus on the Harlem district. She has been allocated a $3.5 million budget by the city council to combat the rodents there.
NYC has done a lot to fight public enemy number one: rats.

But to fully rat out the rodents, we needed to get our city's first dedicated Rat Czar.

Rats are going to hate her
The city has been making strenuous efforts to eradicate rats for years. But to completely eliminate the rodents, a "dedicated rat tsar" has now been appointed. In December, the city posted a job advertisement, calling the position "one of the most important responsibilities in city government." The applicant was required to possess a strong "killer instinct."
The rats on the US East Coast will hate Kathy Corradi with her knowledge, drive and experience, the mayor predicts on Twitter.
Corradi, a former teacher, is tasked with decimating the "cunning and voracious rat population." She will oversee New York's existing army of rat experts. "You'll see a lot of me and a lot less rats," Corradi said, according to The New York Times.
Rats drowned
Inspectors in New York City registered twice as many rats last year as the year before. According to the city council, this is due to the expansion of inspections, but the increase can also be attributed to budget cuts for sanitation services.
Mayor Adams has been trying to curb the plague since taking office in January 2022. He has said that the house where he lived as a child was overrun by rats. When he was borough president of the Brooklyn borough, he once demonstrated a device ( editor: De eko1000* ) that drowned rodents in a bucket, which drew widespread criticism from animal rights activists.
The EKO1000 is a trapping system and is available for purchase in the Animal Pest Shop (Link to the EKO1000).
