How do I get rid of mice!
There are several methods to repel or control mice:
- Keep mice away:
- Keep your house clean and tidy. Mice are attracted to food scraps and dirt.
- Fill holes and cracks in walls and floors with steel wool and caulk.
- Make sure there are no gaps in doors and windows and that they close properly.
- Store food in closed containers or boxes
- Combating mice:
- Mouse trap: Place mouse traps in areas where mice frequent. This could be near food scraps or along walls and baseboards. Use a snap trap or an electric trap, for example.
- Mouse bait stations: These are small boxes containing mouse poison. The mice eat the bait and then die. Place the bait stations in areas where mice frequent, but make sure children and pets can't reach them.
- Glue traps: Catch mice with glue. Note that mice don't die; you must use a humane method. (Do not burn or drown them.) Our knowledge base lists several effective humane methods for killing mice quickly and painlessly.
- Ultrasonic sound waves: Devices are available that emit ultrasonic sound waves that are supposed to deter mice. However, there is little evidence that these devices are effective.
It's important to remember that controlling mice can be an ongoing task, especially if there are many food sources near your home. Make sure you keep your home clean and tidy and seal any holes and cracks to prevent mice from entering.
