Moles (Talpa europaea L.)

Appearance:

Broad paws with long, wide nails, palms facing outwards, and the fur hairs show no growth direction, so they are always smooth (to aid the mole's movement through the tunnel).

Lifestyle:

• lives solitarily in its own tunnel system
• they prefer to make tunnels in loose, humus-rich soil
• they live on worms and insect larvae

Injury:

molehills in vegetable gardens, lawns, sports fields and also in newly sown fields.
